In a long while, the annual general meeting/congress of the Association of Advertising Agencies of Nigeria (AAAN) looks to be rancour free, as the current Vice President of the Association, Kayode Oluwasona, who doubles as the Managing Partner/CEO of Harmonee Concepts Limited will succeed the incumbent Kelechi Nwosu, Managing Director TBWA Concept.

Our findings have also shown that almost positions are returning candidates unopposed unlike what happened in the 41st AGM/Congress in Abuja, the election that brought Nwosu and the current executive committee to power.

It would be recalled that Nwosu and Lanre Adisa, Managing Director of Noah’s Ark keenly contested the top position 2 years ago in Abuja and the result therein had left some bitter taste in the mouth. The acrimony as a result of the election was however resolved by the industry elders.

Oluwasona, CEO, Harmonee Concepts  who until December 20013 was the Managing Director of Rosabel Leo-Burnett, Lagos teamed up with the owners of Harmonee Concept, Debo Adedeji  to breathe a fresh breath of life into the agency.

Prior to his time at Harmonee Concept, Oluwasona had worked with Rosabel Leo Burnett, Insight Communications Limited, and SmithKline Beecham Nigeria Plc. (Now GlaxoSmithKline).

Some AAAN members believe that Oluwasona will bring wealth of experience from both client and agency side to run the association well. His election as the president of the body takes place in the next 48hours in the prestigious Le Meridien Hotel, Uyo in Akwa Ibom State.

Meanwhile, Association has concluded plans to hold its 43rd AGM/Congress from today 19th to Saturday 21th May, 2016 at the Le-Meridien Ibom Hotel & Golf Resort, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

The lush greens of the world-class 18-hole golf course, creates the right atmosphere for the Association’s AGM.

The theme for this year’s AGM/Congress is “Communication as a tool for National Development.”

The theme was to further provide a professional platform for a truly intellectual and practical discourse on the effects of communication and advertising on the economic situation of Nigeria.

This year’s keynote speakers at the AGM/Congress are Mrs. Ibim Semenitari, Managing Director, NDDC and Mr. Udeme Ufot, (MFR) Group MD, SO&U Limited.
