UAC appoints new GMD 1 year after appointing MDs of subsidiaries

The Board of Directors of UAC of Nigeria Plc has announced the appointment of Mr. Folasope Aiyesimoju as the company’s Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer with effect from April 1, 2019.

It would be recalled on January 1 2018, the company had announced the appointment of new heads for some of its subsidiaries.

The company said in a statement on Sunday that Aiyesimoju first joined the board of UAC in March 2018 and was a member of the governance and remuneration committee of the board.

In his capacity as Group MD/CEO of UAC, the statement said, Aiyesimoju would serve concurrently as Managing Director/CEO of UPDC until a new head is appointed for the subsidiary company.

Commenting on the appointment, the Chairman of the Board of UAC, Mr Dan Agbor, said the appointment of Aiyesimoju as GMD/CEO signified the company’s ambitions, and the board’s determination to accelerate the process of change within the group.

In January 1, 2018, the company’s statement said that Mrs. Oluwakemi Ogunnubi has been appointed as the managing director of Chemical and Allied Products Plc; Mr. Taiwo Ajibola takes over as the managing director of MDS Logistics Limited, while Mr. Adedamola Olusunmade is now the managing director of Portland Paints & Products Nigeria Pls.

Mr. Mukhtar Yakasai, formerly the managing director of Portland Paints and Products Nigeria Plc, was redeployed as the deputy managing director of Grand Cereals Limited, a UAC subsidiary located in Jos.

Meanwhile, Mr. Solomon Aigbavboa, previously the managing director of MDS Logistics Limited, was posted to head Livestock Feeds Plc as managing director.

According to the statement, Mrs. Modupe Asanmo, the erstwhile managing director of Livestock Feeds Plc, has retired from the company after 10 years of meritorious service.
